A Message from Capt. Dee
This year marks our 14th season of offering private day sails along the North Coast of St. Croix. We sail into the Caribbean Sea and find a secure anchorage in the East End Marine Park Sanctuary where we snorkel, swim, snack or lunch, and relax for the day.
Upon boarding at Green Cay Marina you will step aboard into a large shaded cockpit and listen to the days briefing. For your convenience “ZULU” is equipped with a fully shaded cockpit and a custom-built wide swim platform with a deep ladder to enter and exit the water with ease. Our crew takes great pride in offering a comprehensive snorkeling lesson, well maintained snorkeling gear, noodles, and a guided tour of the day’s anchorage. So pack light, bring a towel, an extra tee shirt, environmentally friendly sunscreen (no aerosol sunscreen please), and your camera. We will provide all the food and beverages. Capt. Dee is a great cook and offers fresh and local produce and fish to support our local farmers and fisherman. Special dietary needs are easily accommodated.
Please, let us know if you have booked this trip for a special occasion. We will be able to offer suggestions about how we can make your day on the water the most memorable of your vacation. If you would like to take the helm or be part of the crew just let us know. Some guests just relax and let us sail but others like a more interactive experience and want to steer, raise sails and be part of the crew. We cater to all of our guests with personalized service.
You'll love the experience of chartering “ZULU” and it will undoubtedly be the best part of your vacation on St. Croix!
Let's go sailing!
ABOUT CAPTAIN DEE
Captain Dee moved to St. Croix in 1975.
Since 1987 she has held a 100 ton USGS Masters License as well as a 100 Ton Multi- Passenger Sail Auxiliary License.
Dee purchased Zulu in 2004 after working as her captain for one season - “The chance to own and operate my own charter boat was a lifetime dream and goal. Many wonderful employment experiences led to the opportunity of owning Bilinda Charters. I feel very fortunate that Zulu and I found each other”
Employment has included teaching sailing at The Annapolis Sailing School and Jones Maritime as well as working at Dive Experience as a Dive Master.
In 1978 she owned and operated “Virgin Surf and Sail” the first windsurfing school in the Virgin Islands. Her professional windsurfing career included teaching windsurfing daily at the three locations she operated on St. Croix.
To log sea time for her USCG License, Dee worked as a first mate and cook aboard several charter boats. Cruising included the Intracoastal Waterway and the East Coast of the United States to Florida and the Caribbean.
"When I first arrived in St. Croix in 1975 I was recruited by the USVI Government to work as a classroom teacher and later by the Anti-Litter and Beautification Commission as an informal educator with a focus on Solid Waste and Recycling Education. During those years I was a founding member of (VINE) The Virgin Islands Network of Environmental Educators as well as the St. Croix Recycling Association.
I bring all my experience of living and working on St. Croix to you in the form of a day spent sailing and snorkeling aboard “ZULU”.
Sailing is my passion …taking care of our guests is my gift to you!"
Fair Winds and following seas,
